We love your website. It appears that you are not only
a conservative
southern Baptist, but a busy one at that.
Surprise: Tax rebate not a rebate
http://detnews.com/2001/politics/0107/26/-254330.htm
This is going to get a lot more exposure the closer we get to
tax time.
You might have already known this, I did not. In Minnesota we
are in our
second year in a row of receiving a State Sales Tax Rebate.
That is a way
that Governor Jesse decided to return some of the state's surplus in
such a
way that we wouldn't be taxed on it (which we all greatly
appreciate).
Most of us dumb Minnesotans just assumed that the $600 or
$300 checks we received from the IRS was a tax rebate and come tax
time, people are going to get very pissed (that is unless the 1040
form is so misleading that no one really understands what they did).
I know that you are probably a
supporter of Pres. Bush but I think that this Tax Relief program is
nothing
more than smoke and mirrors to make everyone happy with our new
administration. (I normally vote republican, but I have a hard
time liking "W", especially when stuff like this is
happening.)

Great site! I accidentally ran across it today. Here's a rant from
California.
Bush gave us a tax "relief" now all of a sudden its
not a relief but an advance on next year's taxes. How convenient
they say that AFTER mailing the refunds out.
When are people going to learn tht the government is no good
and we would be better off without it Here is why:
-Income tax: Why should we have to give the government a percentage
of our
wages every year? Every year we have to send a check of OUR money to
them. What did they ever do for it? Same with the lottery. We win
money and turn around and have to give those bastards a cut!
-Sales Tax: We give stores our business. Why should we have to
pay them an extra 7% percent for the items we buy?
-California Electricity is corrupted. Bills have tripled to fill the
wallets
of the government fat cats. Gas is 2.00 a gallon. Nationwide gas
crisis my
foot. All other states are paying 1.10 to 1.40 a gal. It's a scam!
The US
government is a crooked organization!
If people were smart, they would rebel. No voting (like your
votes count
anyway, they buy the elections) anything else that would force the
US
government to surrender to the people!
-Carl Watts
My Response:
Thanks for coming to my
website, In response to what you are saying, let me say these
things...
I had not heard that the Tax Refunds were an advance on
anything, will look
into it. I think this may be something that was
misinterpreted.
I believe that the Federal Government is too large, but it is
not inherently
evil, just some of the people in it.
I agree that Income Tax is one of the evils of the Federal
Government. It
should be completely abolished and replaced with a Flat National
Sales Tax.
This would encourage savings , and have the added benefit of taxing
illegally earned money, when it is spent.
The Government is not getting the money for your increased
electric bills,
the Utility Companies are. And to some extent, they are paying
higher costs
right now, in fact, some of the power that they are buying is coming
from
my home state, Texas. But I do not doubt that they are making
a profit.
Gas prices in California are higher for some other reasons
too. Your state
has more requirements for clean air than most, making fuel and
vehicles cost
more, your solution there is to get rid of the fruits and nuts that
run your state.
Sales Tax does not go to the store, do not blame them.
The money goes to the state. But if we did away with Federal
Taxation, and had a Flat Tax, in
conjunction with State Sales Taxes, would still be far better than
what we
have now.
Your idea to rebel is not a bad one. The way to do it
is to vote though,
not stop voting. The way you take over the government is to
vote, get rid
of the people that disagree with you, or try to do so. If you
can not get
rid of them, you at least try to impress upon them that you have a
following
that needs to be heard and dealt with.
In short, channel your anger into productive work to bring
about meaningful
change. This will make you a LOT more happy than not voting as
a form of
revolt.

Are we Americans as dumb
as we appear or is it just that we do not think?
While the Chinese held our plane and its crew hostage (they are free
now, thank the Lord), presumably to get more time to inspect the
plane, the media wrung its hands and criticized the Bush
Administration for perceived errors.
Yet 70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to
the Chinese should be suspended. Well duh, why do you need the
government to suspend trading privileges?
DO IT YOURSELF!!
Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and
if it says "Made in China" or PRC" (and that now
includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product or none at all.
You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products,
however you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.
Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have
eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just
an
example, the point is don't wait for the government to act.
Just go ahead and assume control on your own.
If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of
Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in
our favor...fast!! The downside? Some American
businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign
stockpiles of inventory. The solution - let's give them fair
warning. So, if we implement this May 1, and we
will only continue it until June 1, that is only one month of
trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12 the total of,
or 8% of their American exports. Then they will at least have to ask
themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were
worth it.
-Robert Lambert
My Response:
The
only thing that I would add, Robert, is that the items that are
already here have been paid for with U.S. Dollars, by U.S.
companies. But, that having been said, you have to start somewhere,
and there is no better time than the present, and your idea of a
waiting period before starting the boycott gives American companies
the chance to unload their existing inventory now. I also
believe that your comment goes VERY well with my stance that the
government is not our daddy.
Thanks
for your comment

I am ever fascinated with the label
that "liberals" are associated with. 99% of the liberal
I associate with, all feel as I do. That every human being in this
country has a right and freedom to believe and live as they
choose. Like yourself, while I may disagree with most of your
views, you have every right to express them. As for religion, most
liberals are religious. But why condone homosexuality, remove
school prayer, and give woman the right to choose? Because it is
what they choose to do in life. Religion in government creates a
bias. That leads to anger, which at some point, leads to hate.
Hate only brings more hate, thus, disorder. If atheists took over
the government, and told you you could worship god, you'd be
completely pissed off. I would be completely pissed off. The
freedom of choice is what makes we human beings happy. When
someone attacks us for who and what we are, we attack back. As for
your views on school violence, I do not think religion is the
answer. I do however, agree that these kids should be treated as
any citizen. You hit someone, you should be charged with assault
like anyone else. You seem a really intelligent guy, I find your
views less offensive than that of the Republicans, with more depth
of coarse. Just wanted to share my views with you. Good luck with
your site, you have something here.
Respectfully,
Bill Silverman
My
response,
I
agree with you that religion in government creates a bias, the
problem that I see is that the bias being created is an
atheist one. I would rather allow ALL religions than none,
or just one, like Atheism. On the subject of choice, I agree
with you also, except for the killing of unborn children,
shouldn't they get a choice as to what to do with their lives? As
to religion in schools, the fact that it would teach children
right from wrong and consequences for their actions, was the
point. Thank you for your comments, and was your spelling of
coarse, vs. course on purpose?
Thanks,

Bush is one scary dude. I don't know if you watch Jon Stewart's Daily Show on the Comedy Channel?
He basically reported this same story and it was pretty funny. He said that Franklyn Graham, in the
Inauguration address, declared Jesus the one true God, thereby "royally pissing off all other
Gods." The correspondent said he couldn't interview the other gods directly (since he'd instantly
burst into flame in the direct presence of God) but he did read some of the press releases put out
by other gods. Stuff like Buddha saying "I'm not the true god? It's because I'm fat
isn't it...I know that's what it is" and stuff like that.
The other thing in that show that I thought was really funny was that they interviewed a guy with a
pretty irreverent interview show. I forget his name, but he said he had a chance to interview
George W. when he was governor and announced his candidacy for president. He asked George, "you've
said that Jesus is your personal advisor and savior. Meanwhile, during your term as governor of
Texas, you've executed more people than ever before. What does Jesus have to say to you about
that?" George W. stammered through some BS mumbling and finally said that he
didn't think Jesus had an opinion on the issue. The interviewer looked at him and said, "well as a VICTIM of capital
punishment, I think Jesus would have an opinion on the matter!" George apparently wasn't pleased
and left the interview at that point :)
I thought it was pretty clever.

My response:
I had never thought of Christ as a victim of capitol punishment, I agree, quite clever. As far a President Bush is concerned, I have made it
plain in previous rants, that the President was far from my first choice, I merely see him as a far better choice than
Algore.
Another reader's
rant:
What does it really mean to be a bigot? How far do you have to go to be
considered racist? What does it really mean to be a chauvinist? Why can I not have pride in my ethnicity?
White males consistently ponder these questions. What is the purpose of pointing the finger at me when you call yourselves by
words that you would kill me for even mentioning in private? Why do I have to pay for the sins of forefathers that aren’t even mine?
Racist and Supremacist are words that are reserved for the white man.
Point your finger elsewhere, perhaps at yourself. I have but a simple set of personal rules when it comes to race. (1.) We all
bleed red. (Cut yourself and see.) (2.) You and I are humans act as such. (3.) Racism is a travesty to humanity let it die in history.
I am not not not not black, yellow, brown, green, blue, nor am I what you
think of me. I am not racist, bigoted, or chauvinistic. What gives you the right to berate me? Look at yourselves before you judge me, for you are not my judge. I do have pride in my heritage, I
love the fact that my father came here from a distant land to live free and to escape the boot of tyranny. I love my father so much more
for it.
Be happy that you live in such a country where you are given the chance to make whatever it is you want with your life. Go make
something of your life; I know from first hand experience how hard it can be.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did have an ostentatious dream of equality. His dream is near fruition. Please don’t dishonor him by forcing
your views on me. Please listen to him. Follow the lead of those brave women in history that fought for your freedoms. Forget the past
that has so troubled you so. We live in a new millennium of freedom and understanding for all people. I will stand by your side until you
disrespect my rights as a human being, and then you are on your own.
Alex Huetwohl
My response:
Alex………….. I feel your pain.
Hello from a complete stranger!
Just thought I'd drop a line and say that, even though we don't see eye to eye on some issues, it's
nice to hear someone else out there with some
straight-forward common-sense political views and some real arguments to back those views up.
If only others would post their thoughts more often
then people might have more opinions to bounce theirs against and see how their arguments hold up.
Thanks for the time.

Regarding [12/9/00] rant...
M. Buban wrote:
Dear Sir, I will preface this message by saying that I have not read any of your previous rants. I also saw the "Politically Incorrect" show in which your
referred to and don't think that the 2nd Amendment needs to be abolished and I don't think that Bill Maher (note spelling) does either. I think his point
is that the NRA fights things like the Brady Bill and other measures all in the name of upholding the 2nd Amendment and people generally feel uneasy
about the possibility of previous felons having easy access to guns. And that's really it, what is the problem with someone waiting a few days to make
sure they have no criminal background? Or is that the problem itself, that regardless of past criminal history, felons should be able to get a gun if they
so desire? Just wondering. And why is it alright to kill actual people, Texas and the death row killing machine, but abortion is wrong. Isn't a fetus/baby just a parasite until the umbilical cord is cut? Any thoughts?
My Response:
First of all, I misspelled Marred Bill's name on purpose. Secondly, I do not care who you want to restrict from having guns, you can't. If you think
that a NEW law making the ownership of a gun MORE illegal for a felon is going to stop a felon from getting a gun, if he or she wants one, then
you live in a dream world. (Probably California) . As far as anyone else having to wait a few days to get a gun... Do you realize that Income Tax in
this country is a TEMPORARY measure, and guaranteed not to exceed 2% (I think) of your annual salary? Have you EVER seen a toll road
finish paying for itself and open up to the public as a free road? My point
is, no matter how well intentioned, laws that restrict, minimize, or
eliminate ANY part of our rights should be fought. It is much like the story of the camels nose. The story
goes like this. If you let a camel put his nose in your tent, soon, the camel's head will be in your tent. Soon after that the whole camel is in your tent, and YOU are not. We do not want
the nose of the gun control camel into our tent, period. Freedom is far more important than control. Those, by the way, seem to be the keywords
for Conservative and Liberal. Conservatives want freedom and Liberals want control.
Now for your question on capitol punishment in Texas. The reason that it is more acceptable to kill a grown person that has committed a heinous
crime than to kill an innocent child is simple. Heinous crime vs. innocent child. The adult CHOSE to break the law, and commit the crime.
There's your freedom of CHOICE. The baby, on the other hand, has no choice. As for your silly idea that a fetus is not human until the umbilical
cord is cut, do we not care for and feed our children for much longer? Are they not still parasitic well into their thirties in some cases? Is this
grounds to kill them? I have twin daughters, that were born EXTREMELY premature, their mother was only five and a half months pregnant at
their birth. These two girls were LEGALLY abortable in every state in the union, up to, and including the instant that they were FULLY born.
These two parasites are alive and well, going to junior high school and starting to think about boys. They were both under two pounds after losing
their water weight at birth. The reason I bring them up is, I KNOW for a fact, MANY babies that are killed in legal (but morally wrong)
abortions, could be alive, if only they were taken from their murderous mothers. So, if you want to compare the killing of innocent children to the
execution of murderers and rapists, you go ahead. But I for one, know
better.
Response Continues...
M.Buban writes:
I think that the liberals are the ones who want the freedom to chose as
abortion goes and it's the conservatives that want to control everyone else. I'm very happy for your daughters and wish you and them well. If all stories could end up like theirs it would be a better world and maybe we wouldn't have this dilemma. I personally don't like the stories of abuse at the hands of individuals who bring life into the world and can't deal with that choice and then the child has to suffer. I personally don't want to be involved in an
abortion decision and I take measures to ensure that doesn't happen.
Unfortunately there are many people that don't think about those
consequences before engaging in acts that cause pregnancies. Even though it's not something I would do, I think it should be legal for those that want it. I really don't like the idea of killing in any instance, my point of the parasite is that without the host, the mother, that fetus/baby would die. Is it morally right to kill a human being because they made poor choices as an adult? And is that really knowing better? The other thing about the gun issue, I know that criminals will get the guns if they REALLY want them but is it REALLY a problem for a background check to be conducted, what about these mentally ill people like Laurie Dann that walked into a school and started shooting a few years back. She probably wasn't a criminal but maybe someone would have found out about her mental shortcomings and prevented this from happening. This is purely hypothetical at this point and I don't even know how she obtained the gun, I'm just using a story to make my point. And do you
really think that citizens arming themselves can protect them from the government, what about David Koresh and the Branch Davidians? That didn't seem to work out for them and I certainly don't agree with what the ATF did in that instance. And as for Bill Maher's name, I understand that you call him Marred Bill, I was just pointing out the original mention of him in your rant as Bill Mar, that's all. I realize that taxes and toll roads aren't big with most Americans. I don't mind the toll roads as much as I dislike taxes, mainly
because with the toll road I know what I'm getting. With taxes, I have less of an idea beyond law enforcement, firemen, streets and sanitation or similar functions, about what my money actually does for me.
My Reply this time..
And my point, I guess you missed it, was that the "parasite is fully capable of living on it's own, without the murderous "host" as you call a mother. I find it interesting that Liberals only see freedom for themselves, not others. The freedom that I speak of, is the freedom of the child. The control that I speak of is killing the child. How you warp killing an innocent baby into freedom is perverse.
Again on guns. You are advocating letting the government into the tent as a "gun control" camel. It is clear that you do not understand the danger of starting any government "program". This is exactly the reason that I say that Liberals want government to be their "daddy" and Conservatives want government to be their employee.
The message to me:
Jon,
Hi. I would just like to say I found your web site unintelligent and ignorant. You don't support Gore fine, that's your right, it just shows how little you care about the world. Bush wants to drill for oil in Alaska, but I guess you don't care about that because of your ignorance. If it doesn't concern you it doesn't matter. That's why
I take you as a total idiot. I also think it's idiotic the way you respond to people on your page, it shows your asshole character. On another note, you tank isn't even that great.
The reef tank looks alright, but the other one is a big old mess. So, not only do you seem to have some screwed up views, but you don't even have a nice tank.
Thank you for your time.
Lauren
My response:
Let's please take your comments one by one... First of all, you found
my site "unintelligent and ignorant". Ignorant would be uninformed and
I believe that I am rather WELL informed on the subjects that I write about or print others words about. Unintelligent means to be incapable of
learning. I learned that you can curse (grin) so much for THAT one.
You seem to have decided that MY site is about GORE....Hmmm you obviously only read the CURRENT rant and did not bother reading
(Or, perhaps you were too ignorant or unintelligent enough) the REST of the site.
YOU said that Bush wants to drill for oil in ALASKA. Yes... And your point was? Here, let me
help... You should have said." Bush wants to drill for oil in Alaska, and that is WRONG!
Because... (Insert tree-hugging Liberal Disinformation here) The TRUTH is that the PEOPLE OF ALASKA want to drill for oil in Alaska. George Bush just wants to give them the RIGHT to do so. Isn't that funny, someone saying that the STATES should govern
themselves?
Then you called me an A$$hole - BUMMER, that hurt! You seem to be in alignment with George W. on this one! He was just calling a Liberal an
A$$hole, you are calling a Conservative one. Was he wrong? Are you right?
Then you attacked my POOR defenseless tanks. This does not sound like
the action of a tree hugging Liberal that wants to "save Alaska (FROM the
Alaskans, I might add.) Well I am sorry that you did not like my tanks. In the future please do not look at them, if they offend you. I on the other hand, find them QUITE beautiful. And THAT does NOT sound like a comment made by an environment hating Conservative
Republican...??? Maybe the Liberals don't REALLY like the environment, just CONTROL! Maybe Conservatives don't Hate the environment, just Federal control of States, Cities, Homes, and bank
accounts!
Do they grow on
trees?
"I have visited
your website, as per your instructions. I am afraid that,
regardless of my liberal outlook on life I came away neither
enlightened or angry. I hope this doesn't mean I have no level of
intelligence whatsoever."
My response:
(I hate it when they steal my thunder by answering their own
question...)
You are correct sir! You have no level of intelligence WHATSOEVER!!!
Jon,
I have a few gray hairs after talking w/ you, but they were worth
it! You are a character...when are you starting a radio station?
